Joe, you should check out the reverse pattern shifter gate Cope racing trans makes. You can shift to 2nd by just slapping the shifter back, then press the button to go into drive.

Leave a lot of power going 6 Pack over single 4bbl. I knew it was going to be at least 20-30hp but not 50-60 and 80-90 ft/lbs.

3:51 Love the sound of your cam and exhaust! It sounds a lot like the exhaust on my '72 Road Runner with a 440 that has been "poked and stroked" to a 528 and has a Lunati "Voodoo" cam. I hand made and welded the exhaust out of tubing that a buddy gave me for free, it is a little heavy but eventually I will get lighter exhaust tubing and use mine as a template. It has Flowmaster mufflers on it but also has cutouts exiting in front of the rear wheels/tires. I have driven past many policemen that never even looked twice unless they were usually giving me a thumbs up, so since I am building this car to be a street/strip (actually more of a dedicated drag racer that is just barely street legal) and deleting the mufflers and cutouts would probably save me a good 100lbs! That translates to almost 0.10sec quicker times in the 1320'! I definitely need a two step, I just installed a line lock and the next project is going to be getting the two step installed when I get a line lock. 3:57 looks like one of your neighbors was checking out what you are doing from the second story window directly above the rear window of your Dart!😇😁😂😂

Bought a '72 Dart 318 for my oldest son and I to work on in the mid 2000's. He got to drive it his last year of high school and even though it was a rust bucket originally from the coast town of Florence Oregon, it was still the coolest car on campus.

I love the sound but my neighbors would hate me too.

My combo is nearly identical; Mine is 276/286/110, 230/237@050, and lifts of .549/.571 at a true 10.95 Scr. My car goes 93 in the Eighth at 3457pounds/me in it. By it's trapspeed and race weight, that calculates to about the same power. I shift my 4-speed at 7000, just to hear it . Don't care how quick it is or could be. I said nearly identical, except it don't idle like that. By comparison, My idle is nearly dead smooth down to 550 @5* advance. Mine was a DD for many years, now semi retired with over 100,000 miles on the clock. Daymn fine street combo. I really want to call bs on the Cam, but just don't have the courage.
